EASYToons – Educational Anecdotes for Struggling Youth
NHEG announces a very special project coming to fruition, a comic book, titled EASYToons (Educational Anecdotes for Struggling Youth). Pamela Clark, Executive Director, explains, “After years of planning and finding the perfect group of talented graphic designers, with many skills and great work ethics, we are launching a comic book for students in need of guidance for real-life issues that they are facing.” The title of the comic book was the inspiration of our very talented cartoonist, Rachel Jean Fay, of West Chester, Ohio. Tyler Maxey-Billings is the lead on the project and is creating the template and layout of the comic book. Pamela Clark, Executive Director and Jeff Ermoian, the AVDD of Graphic Design, will work together to keep the project on track. NHEG has partnered with Kelly Bear Press (Teacher & Counselor articles to help children’s development) to promote their website and create scripts from their articles for the comics.
Debuting on May 1, 2019, the comic book will implement a “Mr. Rogers mentality” by reaching students with great kindness and understanding. NHEG’s team of graphic designers will create the cartoons; educational writers, Madhumitha (Madhu) Prabakaran and Noemi Vallone will create scripts for the comics, and an NHEG radio host will be chosen to read the comics and take calls from students. NHEG has partnered with teen line, a non-profit organization that will field student calls when the radio show is offline or anytime a student needs to talk. They can reach Teen Line at 310-855-4673, 6pm-10pm PST, text “TEEN” to 839863 between 6pm-9pm PST, or email them through www.teenlineonline.org.

Teen Line is a free and anonymous teen-to-teen hotline. Their teen listeners are specially trained to take calls on any topic- no problem is too big or small for them to help you with. They won’t judge you or give advice– their job is to listen to your feelings, explore options available and help you make positive decisions that best fit your personal situation.
