Some area businesses have helped us every year since we started the event, and we are so thankful to them. They include First Federal Bank, which donated a $100 check – Pamela and Greg Clark personally went shopping for school supplies with this money; Captain D’s, which again offered beverages, balloons for decorations, four dinner coupons for raffle, bookmarks with coupons for free kids’ meals on them and a key hook for book bags; 4Imprint, which donated the bookbags as well as pens, pencils, key flashlights and other goodies – their donation is valued at $500; and 2nd and 7 Foundation, which provided free story books and requires that they be read to second graders by someone involved in sports. Ashlee Scott read these stories and handed them out. She enjoys playing softball and soccer, runs track and will be bowling in 2019.

Office Max had supported the event in the past but this year they raised the bar by offering us free printables including a copy of NHEG’s new comic book for each attendee, all the leftover school supplies from last year and two book bags and additional school supplies. Imagination Station, Toledo Science Center donated a family 4-pack of admission tickets, handmade hats were donated by the Blankets of Love Group and the National School Choice Week organization donated scarves that were handed out last year and now this year.

A special thank you to Tammy and Kyle Barham and her children Ethan, Ashlee and Leigha for volunteering pre-event and during the event. They helped deliver letters, make calls, fill bags and run errands. A sticker, wrist ban and pin station was run by Ethan Long.

2nd and 7 Foundation, provided free story books that was read by Ashlee Scott, which were then distributed. Ashlee enjoys sports, plays softball, soccer and also participates in track. Ashlee, her mother Tammy Barham, siblings Leigha Scott and Ethan Long all volunteered at the event.

Audreanna Kates worked tirelessly making phone calls, organized raffle prizes, making hats and scarves. Blankets of Love group made 2 blankets that were raffled off. The hats were given out with scarves given by National School Choice organization and other handmade scarves. Her husband Travis Kates and brother Clayton Riebesehl both volunteered at the special event.

4imprint donated many other items, including key chain lights, earbuds, pens and pencils, and book bags that were shared and many other governmental organizations shared an array of items.

Enjoli Baker, ordered the items that came from governmental and other organizations. Katie Gerken worked to obtain supplies. Sheila Wright donated Disneyland products that she sent from California. We also had a sticker and pin station at the event.

Mrs. Clark, stated, “Our organization was happy to be part of this event. We’re thankful to all the sponsors and volunteers who stepped up to make the lives of families in need, a little better. I hope that next year will be even bigger. Thanks to all the attendees of the event.”

Thanks to First Federal Bank we have over 70 bags this year! “This surpassed our goal and last year’s collection by 27 bags!” The event will be held on July 28th from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm at Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital meeting rooms. Parent/Guardian and students must attend the entire event to receive school supplies. Please RSVP as soon as possible with name of adults and students, age and grade of each student, and a contact email/phone number of participants.
The event will include the following: (sorry no community dinner will be offered this year due to lack of a sponsor)
Beverages supplied by Captain D’s of Defiance (still looking for sponsors)
National School Choice Week Scarves will be handed out to the first 53 participants.
Raffle – “To participate, please bring $1 and $5 for raffle tickets as we won’t have change available.”
We will have a reading time with a local sportster (still need sportster can you help read a short story?) reading a story and handing out books from the 2nd and 7 Foundation to students grade 3 – 5.

Pamela Clark, Executive Director at The New Heights Educational Group, (NHEG) recently hosted a school bag giveaway and community dinner in partnership with Detray Chiropractic. Andrew Duncan of Detray Chiropractic shared a Health and Wellness presentation and arranged a fabulous dinner for the community at this noteworthy event.

Other fabulous community members that donated to make this event a success are First Federal Bank, Kroger, Captain D’s, 2nd and 7 Foundation, Taco Bell, Promedica, Office Max, and Imagination Station of Toledo. Along with that, Enjoli Baker, a volunteer at NHEG organized many supplies from around the country to make this a successful affair. Some of the highlights included 46 bags being handed out, Cuyler Spangler from Kurt’s Karate read storybooks from 2nd and 7 Foundation and handed out 16 reading books. A raffle was also held with the Manz and Spangler family taking home some of the great prizes.

Many thanks to the staff from Detray Chiropractic, Amanda Vogelsong from First Federal Bank and her husband Chris Vogelsong who volunteered to make this a notable occasion. Greg, Zachary and Desiree Clark also provided much needed help.  Pamela Clark, Executive Director, stated, “This event was a blessing to our community and helped many families obtain much needed school supplies. We were happy to host the event and hopefully it will be a first of many more.”

As for our raffle winners:

• Manz family won a Captain D’s Dinners, and 2 tickets to the Imagination Station.
• Spangler family won 2 tickets to the Imagination Station and a copy of Unraveling Reading.

FOUR GREAT OPPORTUNITIES AT ONE SPECIAL EVENT –
FREE SCHOOL SUPPLIES, HEALTH AND WELLNESS PRESENTATION, FREE DINNER, FREE READING TIME, WITH BOOKS TO BE HANDED OUT

UPDATE –  We would like to thank Kroger for contributing $100 gift card to purchase school supplies.

UPDATE – Due to some extra donations shared with our organization, we have decided to have a raffle. Tickets will be sold for $1 each or 6 for $5. Participation is not required, but if you would like to, please bring $1 bills. Prizes include the following: Imagination Station Tickets, Captain D’s Gift Certificates, Taco Bell Gift Certificates, and possibly more. We look forward to seeing and meeting many of you at this very special event.

Thanks to our volunteer, Enjoli Baker and 40 different companies that provide free stuff for kids, The New Heights Educational Group, (NHEG) is receiving a large shipment of boxes (between 30 – 40 boxes) containing school supplies, small back packs, coloring books & crayons, reading books, pencils and so much more.

These items will be handed out at Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital Meeting Rooms on July 28, 2017 and dinner will be served at 6:00 pm sharp. Detray Chiropractic is also partnering with NHEG for this event. They will provide a (Gluten Free and Nut Free) dinner to those that RSVP for the supplies, and will be sharing a Health and Wellness Presentation and handing out goodie bags.

Also at this event we will have someone reading stories to children and handing out 2nd and 7 books.  You can request supplies for each child in your household. Due to the fact that (Gluten Free and Nut Free) dinner will be provided by Detray Chiropractic, we require an RSVP on a first come, first serve basis for these supplies and the event.
